Music Video - Lip Syncing Practice

In the small practice session that we had for a music video, we decided to focus on the aspect of lip syncing mainly and also see if we could get the performers lips in time with the music as well as if they could perform. This was also a test for the person behind the camera as they had to ensure that they could the performers lips moving at all times as well as capture the performers actions. In my group were Marianna Theochari and Rob Kenny.

When filming, we did have a few initial problems with the music. We had a copy of the song on one of our groups phone therefore dediced to play it out on that so that the performer could mime the song a little easier however in the corridors and outside where we were filming, there was a lot of background noise, making the song at points very difficult to hear. We managed to overcome this as both of the performers knew the song well enough to at points guess some of what the phone was saying. There were also points when we didn't need the song and the performer just did it from memory. We knew that the background noise and the song being played out from a phone wouldn't harm the final production due to the fact that we can remove sound from the video once we capture it in the editing process.

When we had finished editing the part of the video that we had captured, we showed it to the rest of the class. We had pretty good feedback such as the framing of marianna in the first shot as well as good acting and very good lip syncing. However, there is a point in our video, in the second shot, where something is slightly off and we can't quite tell what. Also the placing of people and props in certain shots weren't as good as they should have been.
